can someome tell me where the vin # is on a 54 f-250 other then the glove box? I know it's on the frame, Is it in the same area as the f-100? mostly on the right side up by the front crossmember. The reason I'm asking i'm looking at f-250 out of state and need to have a inspection before I can title here. (need to see if the owner can find it before I go look at it). Thanks for your help.
I don't know about '54s, but since nobody else is stepping up, here goes. It's probably stamped on the top surface of the frame above or just forward of the axle. Probably on the passengers side, but may also be on the driver's side.
You could also try a search for "frame serial number", you might find something specific to your year.
These numbers can be real hard to see. You can look right at them and not see them unless you look real close. You want to have a good bright light and try to get the light grazing across the top of the frame. A Scotch brite pad or wire brush and a good degreaser like "Krud Kutter" will help. The numbers I have seen are about 1/4" tall and the string is about 4" long.
My truck has a 54 frame and the VIN # was stampped on the front crossmember on the passenger side.I had to clean it with a wire wheel on my grinder to read it.
Hope this helps you out.

When I bought my truck it had no motor or radiator. The Vin # was on the top of the crossmember right next to the side rail. It was toward the back of it.( beside the large rivet at the rear). You should be able to see it if it is there. They aren't real deep. Maybe wipe some white shoe polish or paint into it to make it standout.
