Stock Ranger wheels are 12mm offset. Mustangs (pre-'05) are 24 or 26mm (depends on exactly which wheels) so you normally need a spacer of approx 5/16" to 7/16" to make it work. '05+ Mustang wheels are around 36mm offset, so they are harder to make work.

It also depends on what year mustang rims you have. If its older than an 94 (unless its a 93 Cobra) the mustangs had a 4 lug wheel. 94 and up SN95 body style mustangs with 4 wheel disc brakes came with a 5 lug wheel.
