I have a 1997 3.0 Ranger, 4x4, 120,000mi, 5spd. It has had a hard problem starting since I bought it when it is hot. I figured that it was the starter going bad and might be missing so i put a new one on. However, it has started again with the onset of warmer weather. It starts fine when its cold out but when it is warm, the problem starts. It starts up just fine when I first start it for the day. However, when I shut it off and leave it for a few minutes, like getting gas, it does not want to start again. It takes from 2 to 4 times to turn over when warm. Any ideas why??? Thanks John
Sounds like vapor lock if it wont start after already being warm and not starting. I forget what to do to fix it but that's what it sounds like to what I've heard. Just something about the pressures building up to be so great and your computer senses it and wont allow you to start it.
It cranks normally, it just doesnt want to grab. And the connections to the starter and batter are good, they are all new. Nothing sounds bad either, it just doesnt want to start?!?!
I double checked the connections to the starter and battery today. Everything is good. I am going to try to check the fuel system but I am not to familiar with it. Ill do what I can. Thanks for the Help!!
