Any idea why the holes are in the exhaust tips on the new 6.4 diesel?

 

to cool down the exhaust gasses during the cleaning of the exhaust scrubber. The exhaust temp gets up over 1,500 Degrees when the engine cleans off teh ceramic particulate filter in the exhaust system.

if you didn't have the vents cut in it, you have one hell of a flamethrower!!!

NO flames are u kidding, Actually it does cool off the exhaust by letting cool outside air mix with the Super heated exhaust created by the rengen process that occurs every few undred miles. Now when you get a chance take a look at the new chevy diesel...eewww there intercooled tip is butt ugly.
