Dtc P2004

Hey everyone. I need some help with the following DTC P2004.
My check engine light has come on on my 2003 Ranger 2.3L 4V equipped Ranger.
I have a Stinger code reader which shows a trouble code P2004. I havn't been able to find out what this code means. Does any one here have a clue?
Thanks

Dtc P2004

Woo Hoo! All I have to do to get an answer is get hooked up with the right bunch of guys. Thanks everyone, I looked through to tech info link posted by crazypaw but the codes didn't go to P2004. I saw the same thing in the repair manual I bought. I also saw this code listed on a Mustang forum as being the same as what Pawpaw posted (Trouble Code 2004 = Intake Manifold Runner Control Stuck Open Bank 1). So what is an intake runner control, what does it do and are you guys sure this engine has one? Again, this is the dual overhead cam 2.3L 4cyl engine. I want to try and resolve this myself without going to the expense of having a dealer look at it.
I should point out that other than the Check Engine light being on, the truck drives just fine. You can't tell anything is even wrong with it. The motor runs real smooth and still gets 24MPG.
Thanks

Hi mike yates,

Your looking for way to fix your baby...I know!
I just went searching for your code @ 7pm and realized it's not there (should be on page 55...but it's blank!)
This is not a good starting @ FTE for you...I know!
I'm trying to work on a resolution...hang in there!

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=4 width=575 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD>

Anatomy of the DTC

<SMALL>A DTC is made up of 5 digits. The figure below demonstrates the composition of a DTC. With this information it is easier to trouble shoot a DTC without knowing the description of the code.</SMALL>

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

According to this chart I got off OBDII.com the second digit does'nt have a 2. But I'll keep checking

<TABLE width="100%" align=center border=1><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top>P0204</TD><TD vAlign=top>Injector 4 Control Circuit</TD><TD vAlign=top align=middle colSpan=6>Generic OBDII Code </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Just a thought

Yes I'm Sure. If you do a web search for that code, you'll find that it's out there. I found one on a Mazda site that describes it as "Variable Tumble Control system shutter valve stuck open" what ever that is.
I found another at stangnet.com. It describes the code as "Being associated with the charge motion control valve(CMCV), actuator motor, and/or linkage concerns." But that was on a 2005 Mustang, 2006 Explorer and 2006 Mountaineer.
I did a search on Google using DTC P2004 as my search item.

BTW, My book has the same chart as above. It doesn't show a 2 as the 2nd digit either. That's why I'm here talking to you nice people. (-:

OH NO!!! They should have called the silliy thing OBD III. Don't they know are lives are complicated enough with trying to figure out some of this mumbo jumbo . When the bloody h*ll did they update OBD II???. Leave it to an engineer to make it 'Better'. Not to insult all engineers out there, just the one who made that decision. But I'm sure he has a perfectly reasonable explaination that would take two hours to read and six years to understand.

BOY!!! Oh well. We plod on.

Well mike, what does your repair manual say about the type of intake manafold you have on your 2003 2.3L 4 banger?????

I remember reading some where about a split induction manafold, maybe you have one on your ride & the motor, or circuit that controls it, is acting out.

I don't now squat about the 4 banger engine, so maybe someone with the newer modle will chime in.
