Hi guys new here, i was wondering if i could get some help on eliminating my speed limiter on my 2001 ford f250 v10. i purchased a hypertech programmer because it was advertised that it would do this among other things. However it will not, i called hypertech and they advised me it wil not eliminate the speed limiter. I know some of you will say i should not go faster than 95 but oh well my truck can do more and i want it to. Im an emt/firefighter in a very rural community and due to time and distances we have to travel to get to some of our calls i need more out of my truck sometimes, so any help with this would be appreciated i have searched this over on this site and havent found my answer yet. I may have over looked it if so im sorry for posting this. thanks for any help
I can't help you with the speed limiter question, as I would have thought the programmer would have been able to disable it too.
However, I would like to give you a heads up. Usually the speed limiter is put in place because of the speed rating of the tires that come on the vehicle. If you are going to be driving faster than the speed limiter would allow you should probably check what the speed rating is on the tires you have. You're probably not going to be helping out your coworkers much if you have a blowout at 100+mph.
Good luck getting everything to work, and thanks for doing what you do.

I currently have bfg's on my truck right now and as far as ath blow out theory go im kinda stupid and i have a 92 camaro and have pushed my luck a few times on v rated tires passking their limits and knock on wood no problem yet , thanks for the help and the appreciation you dont hear that alot in my profession.
the ratings on tires are tested at 2 hours continiously before tire failure may occur. so if you go over the limit of the speed rating of the tire for s couple of seconds, you will be fine. in my mustang, i go 9.90's with tiny 165/80/r15's on the front of it for several years now. never any problems..i think they are only rated for about 85mph. and aren't v rated tires good for 149?? or was that z's??
