they hard to find new but know of prbably 20 old 1 tons that I could have for a smile. (I wish) but I know I could buy them. I got probably 10-20 17inch in decent shape tires here at home. Is putting spacers between the frames and leaf springs legal?

Blocks on the back are legal though I'm fairly sure?

The biggest radial he can fit would be 235/85/16 and that is still only 32". That's what I currently got on my truck. He could also just put F-350 front springs on and that would probably give him a 2" lift. That was the difference between my F-1 and M-3 front springs.

I don't think spacers between the frame and mounts are illegal but I'd make darn sure that they are anchored good. Blocks are on the back are fine until like 6" then the U-bolts just get too long and my cause axle wrap.

I'll have to compare my tow truck and the 57 because the 57 is already a 3/4 ton not a half ton.

I think a 285/75/16 tire is 32.8, round it off to 33 thats not that far away from a 35!

Obviously since the tow truck has twin I beam that ain't gonna work. I look at spacers and the hardest thing will be taking out thoose rivets or else fabricting soething that won't tilt back and forth.

Preppy just try to fit a 285/75/16 tire on a 5-6" wide rim.

Oh Ive been there done that Nathan! I worked at a tire shop in PA, that alot of old school farmers went too,a dn some of the stuff we had to do for those guys was insane! I remember one time taking a nice wide (I forget the exact size) 15 inch white lettered tire that this one farmer found, and stuffing it onto a 5 inch wide rim. Didnt take much to seat it up either lol

I measured out my leaf sring on my 57 it is 45 inches long between where it mounts to the frame and 2 inches thick.

I also measured a 2 ton 61 Mercury grain truck we took apart and that was 48.5 long and 2.5 thick. I wonder if there would be a truck that would have a leaf spring that would make my truck taller but still could mount in.

How about putting a little extra arch in your orginal style springs?
Winacott`s should be able to do that for you.
That way you`ll know they will fit right.

If you arched a spring, would it still fit right?

If it`s done right it will fit, it can`t be over done.
Winacotts will only do it the right way or no way, they will tell you what can and can`t be done.....
