aftermarket turbo

when you upgrade the turbo to an h2e turbo and larger intake plenums what do you use for the intake y-pipe, do you have for fab your own? also does the exhaust downpipe have to be modified to fit the turbo or will it reach as is?

its all set up to do an intercooler and everything? very nice. i would think it would be a seperate purchase seeing as how most companies make you buy every little thing seperately. its good to see there are still companies out there that give you everything you need

i dont know if you need to tell them your going to put the 3" plenums on, its a great turbo and kit, i went the route of switching over to the superduty style mountings so i could put a turbonetics ball bearing on it.

basically the only kit we can get for our older trucks is from www.gohypermax. c o m However you will need larger injectors and a chip to make full use of it. Your stock turbo works decent until you reach the 400hp mark. I would suggest you try a chip from Tony Wildman and see if that takes care of your hp needs. With a chip you'll also need at least gauges, exhaust and intake- Tony can also set you up with those. If a chip alone is not enough next step is injectors and intercooler. Give Tony a shout at 817-932-5078.

lukes turbo....ill let him release that but its BIG with that under the hood i wonder how it doesnt suck the hood in.

another turbo upgrade and the route i took was change uppipes and pedistal to the superduty one and use a van turbo, but then at that point you have more choices of turbos like the turbonetics which i prefer or the garrett

but again its gonna take more fuel to spin larger turbos and intercoolers are a very highly reccomended.

something that you can do to get the stocker to spin up faster is a smaller exhaust housing that works great without having to go with larger injectors

Im running a K31/s300 hybrid with a 71mm inducer (2.8"), i think stock is 5x mm's. Just by swapping from the modded h2 to this turbo i picked up 50 hp on the dyno , but it feels much stronger on the street than just a 50 hp gain. I think we were getting tire spin on dyno even with 4-5 people loaded in the back. After i put this turbo on I drove by a friend standing on the side of the road at 75-80mph he said the truck sounded like a jet flying by. In the cab you cant really hear much whistle, it just sounds like teh hood and fender are about to get sucked off lol. Best part is that this turbo spools just as easy as a stock obs turbo!

The h2e (62mm inducer i think) is an off the shelf turbo and i believe was very common on L10 cummins engines. It can be modified with a bigger compressor wheel. I picked up about 50 hp just just by switching from a stock h2 to a modded h2 (66mm inducer)

Thanks Luke for letting your info out! and for the info on the H2E. I thought that I heard the H2E was a L10 turbo. I was eyeballing one a few months ago when I did a head gasket on an L10 and the turbo needed rebuilt but the customer already dropped a couple grand on the head gasket after I found a cracked head (common for L10's)
I will probably never get that far in my mods but it nice to have that info tucked away for furture reference!

Whats your guys opinion on the D66 turbo. It look like its quite a bit cheaper than the h2e. I guess it would be a lot more affordable for me, but would it be worth it to wait and get the h2e?

if you are planning on staying with stage 2 injector or smaller the d66 is what you'd be better off with. 2's or larger id save for the h2e, but you will need larger injectors first bc with stock injectors you'll never get the h2 spooled up.
