'92 EGR question
My '92 F150, 5.8L, A4OD, is running like crap - I mean like an old John Deere tractor (2 cylinders) and the only codes I'm getting are 332 - EGR valve not closing, and EGR voltage high (forgot code - 33?). I checked the vacuum signal to the valve and it checks out. I just put on a new TPS, as well as plugs and a fuel filter, so I figured all the upheaval in the TB area just pushed the old EGR valve over the edge. Figured it was stuck open or leaking or something. Any way in order to confirm this theory I removed the valve from the throttle body (left elec, vac, and exh.hooked up to valve) and blocked off the port to the intake. I'm undecided as to whether or not it is improved any - there are other problems, like an exhaust system falling apart, that I have to work on also, so the situation is a little confused.
My question is, other variables aside, should the truck run ok with the EGR valve by-passed? Or am I been too simplistic about this?
