I was wanting to wake up my 5.4 also.
I called my service rep. at the dealer and he told me that if I had no "engine light'' on, then a reflash may not do me any good. I feel like he was being honest by teling that. He could have just said "sure bring it in.... that'll be $85.00 please''. but he didn't do that.
Is the tuner really worth the money?

What year truck do you have? I have the SuperChips Flashpaq Tuner in my 06 F250 5.4 believe me it is worth the money if you are looking to gain throttle response and HP & Torque however don't look to see any mileage improvement in fact it may go down a little bit depending on your right foot.

Red face

mine is an 05' crew cab 4x4 long bed with 3:73 gears.
at the time of purchase I was just excited to get in to this truck but now that I've owned it a few years, I wish I would have put more thought into it. Like maybe the 4:30 gears or even better ,the V10. Don't get me wrong, I love my truck but........ it's as slow as a bound up turd

LP2 I as well have 3:73 gears but just a Supercab 4x4. You have a bit more weight with the Crew cab long box. What really makes these things slow is the electronic throttle control it just seems like there is such a lag when you step on it. I think anyone who installs the Superchips tuner would be satisfied with the results. I had a '99 F250 V10 and a '00 F350 7.3 PSD and if I had to do it again I would go back to the V10 with 4:30 gears and just live with the extra gas cost, it was the best of both worlds in my opinion.

I can OUT TOW HIS, but his is quicker! MAKES ME MAD I BOUGHT IT! Needs some power!! Its part of being a drag racer...I may have the race car on the trailer behind the truck, but thats no reason for the truck to be SLOW!! LOL
Well duh! That 1500 is at least 2000 pounds lighter than your F-250

LP2 and JBFelsing I have an 06 f250 5.4 with 4:11 gears I to installed the Super Chips tuner and liked what it did to the truck. The drive by wire can be a little slow to respond. I installed the K & N intake system and Flowmaster exhaust with the tuner and if I work it right I have gotten in the upper 16s for MPG. If you want to go.....the rear tires are going to smoke. I could not believe the way it improved my 0-60 times. My problem is the higher octane fuel that you need to use. In this area it can be 1-2 dollars per gallon higher. Does anybody have any info about octane boosters?

Not sure about octane boosters...

I run an 87 Performance tune on my truck and it has plenty of power. Best performance mod on my truck by far.

I just installed the flashpaq 1815 in my 2005 f250 v8 5.4 and it woke it up big time. I can actually smoke the tires. It got rid of the speed limiter and my truck went well over what the speedo goes to. I definitely recommend installing this on your truck.

Well duh I know about weight....I drag race! I am just saying....for GODS SAKE these freakin Ford trucks are SLOW!!!! I am not a Chevy guy, and never will be...but my dads truck flat RIPS!! This truck needs a Supercharger or something to wake it up! If I have to save up for one....I will...it wont even get out of its own way. But for now I am installing an exhaust, y pipe that gets rid of those STUPID FREAKIN restrictors, maybe straight pipe the cat, CAI, and a tuner of some sort...I just need a little better GO...it doesnt have to set the world on fire...it just needs to Tow and GO!! After that if I gotta port and polish the heads, add headers, cam, throttle body, or a Supercharger...I will....because this is my DREAM truck as far as body style goes!! I think a motor swap would be cheaper though....HMMM.....

I feel your pain... let's discuss porting and polishing heads. Also, what cams would be best for the low-mid level rpm range?

I am not being a young 22 yr old smartass by those comments...I am just needing a little more GO!! It doesn't have to beat my dads truck in the quarter I could care less what it runs the quarter, but it at least needs to SHIFT better (hopefully a tuner will help the long slippage before it just shifts), and I just want it to be more responsive when I kick it down to pass, or to tow up hill and such. I am like Tim Allen (or Tim "The Toolman" Taylor if your a Home Improvement fan like me)...I need MORE POWER....Ouh...hou...hou....hou....hoouu (you know the sound...hard to spell it out)! LOL

I had Comp Cam custom grind a cam for my 79' Stang....wonder what 5.4 cams they have for truck apps??? And my dad could port these heads like nobodies business....would just need to save up for those damn pricey shorty headers...GEEZ...I could buy long tubes twice for my stang for what those things cost for these trucks!

Quick question...before I just jack it up and count rotations...maybe you could answer...what gears are the code C1 in my door sticker? Does this mean 3.73, 4.11s, or? By the way....THANKS so much for your guys help....really have helped me figure some things out on this thing thus far...hope it gets better and quicker from here.
