I need some help with my 94 b3000 5spd. My gas milage took a healthy s--t.
went from 22 mpg to 15. Changed both o2 sensors disconected the battery for 4 hours and still no change. the check engine light is NOT on. Here in Germany I cant find a code reader anywhere. is there a way to pull the codes without a scanner? any help would be appreciated. Thanks
OK the maf was clean as new and then I found the iac and cleaned it but I dont see how it could mess with the milage by the way when its cold if you dont rev it when you want to move te truck it tries to stall but only when the engine is cold. maybe this is related to the milage problem? thanx 4 the help
Have you pulled the plugs? They are the window to how the truck is burning, need to know colour and condition. Optimally they should be light tan with no crusting, the electrodes should be sharp and not burnt/melted.
How about the ECT sensor (I beleive the technical section-stickies, may have info on testing the signal), or perhaps your thermostat is stuck open. Have you notices less heat from the heater or your top rad hose? A cooler running engine or one that thinks its running cooler uses more fuel.
I got the truck in august with 100000 miles on it it was running on 4 cylinders at the time and the fuel pump died the tank was 1/2 full with water so I changed as much as I could. compression is 125psi in each cyl. I put an open airfilter and a cherybomb on it.
Engine Coolant Temp. If you unhooked the battery for that long, you cleared any stored codes and if your CEL light hasn't come on, you won't find any codes. Unless your CEL bulb is burnt.
You've changed just about everything except the kitchen sink. Hard to say. Somebody else will chime in with some ideas for you.
