Call me old school but forget EFI. Noise, smoke, and mud don't mix with computers. Give me a magneto, high rise manifold and a good carb and I am in Heaven.

I used to think that way too. Not no mo Buckwheat. I'm a born again FI lover.
Actually my idea of the ultimate crawler is a variable valve timing, EFI controlled diesel
Think about it, a user programmable torque curve...
Better yet, independent electric motors on each wheel and joy stick traction control, yeah, ...ok sorry... M block, yeah

DO I need EGR ? This is a non-emission test trail truck. I was working on it today and I saw the EGR is not hooked up. I could not figure out where the vac line was. EGR valve look new.

If the EGR isn't hooked up/working, then the ignition advance will be too much, and it will probably ping. Pinging is detonation and bad for the motor.

To run without EGR it is necessary to change the dist. advance curve. Having an operational EGR doesn't hurt performance much.

What kind of 2" spacer should i get. I was looking on summits website and they listed about 50 of them in 4 different style.

Are the cheap plastic ones ok ?

1 hole opening or 4 hole opening ?

Plastic Spacers are better than aluminum, because they keep heat from the carb.

You should get one with 4 holes for best results.

I heard that aluminum will increase gas mileage but plastic will give the best performance. Is that true?

Yes, warm carb = economy, cool carb = performance. It is a function of the increased density of cool air vs lighter warm air.
