Greetings - I'm building a '54 F100 and need a bench seat . Northern New Jersey area. Anyone know of some one having a bench seat for sale?
No luck in salvage yards, pickups are scarce in the junk yards around here.
Thanks
Rich
I can't help with tbe seat but I agree with your choice. IMHO, bench seats look a lot better in these old trucks than buckets though they might be harder to find. If you are not set on an original seat you might find something that might fit in a later model car or truck in the salvage yards.
I think the best non-stock bench seat conversion I have seen is a bench from a Chevy pickup. They fit and look good and are very comfortable. Many members have done that. I don't remember the year models to look for. Somebody else will help us with that.
While crusing through the threads here and bonusbuilt.com. I have found serveral owners are finding seats in the second and third row seats in vans ,suv's etc. The aft seats must be narrower and resemble bench seats. Have a great day, chuck
Rich, Ranger seats also seem to be popular, but sit alittle low and need to be spaced up. I agree that bench seats look great in these old trucks, and I've found that a hard as rock, flat bench is more comfy on my tired old aching back than a bucket. BTW, where in Jersey are you?
North west Jersey, Dover. I have a set of buckets in the truck now and they just don't look right. I'd trade them in a heartbeat for a bench. Almost had a '52 bench seat yesterday (in Pa.) but it was sold before I could drive the 2 hrs to get it. The epic quest continues. . . .
As far as I know, my bench seat is the stock one that came in it. For a more stock looking truck, a bench is a must. For a hotrod, buckets are cool. I don't know of any stock seats for sale though. Others have suggested some replacement ones that may look ok.
I think that I am going to put a set of buckets out of a newer Ch**y pickup so I can get the shoulder belt built into the seat. This will make me feel a little safer while cruising the Interstate.
I have the stock seat out of my 53, if anyone wants to come to so. AR, they can have it. I would rather have some sort of bench seat, that's why I'm using a 60/40 split bench out of a Bronco II. I like having the arm rest in the center.
well know i have 3 good sets of bench seat springs. one out of my 59, one out of a 64 f250 and one out of a 67f100. i plan on rehopulstering the seat in my 59 myself so i might use one of the others to practice one and learn from and then put it in my 64.
