All this Super and 140 inch wheel base only has me a bit confused...
I will reread all this in the morning and regroup my ?s
Bet you all cant wait...
Thanks again for the info!

The mldg section inre to SCS's only shows a 140" wheelbase..., therefore the bed side mldgs are different, and it also lists the part numbers for the three lower mdgs for the right front bed side~side mount tire panel; one in front, one on panel, one at rear of panel.

Dan, when one posts links you are supposed to go look at them
.
see post #20
That's the 79 brochure referencing the wheelbases, body styles & options.
If you go look you will see what Ford had available.
A styleside is bed that is smooth from front to back
A Flareside is bed with OUTER fenders
.

As for my comment about all f-350 regular cab 2wd pickups having the spare in the bedside, not just camper specials, please see the link below. You'll notice this truck is not a camper special or super camper special:

As for camper specials and super camper specials never being the same, my 79 F-350 camper special (no Super anywhere to be found) has a 140" wheelbase, spare tire in the bedside, 9900 lb GVWR, and 12.00 x 16.5 rear tires. So tell me, what's the difference between my truck and the earlier models designated Super Camper Special?

But I believe you are correct - at some point in the late 70's, F350 Super Camper Specials dropped the "Super", and simply became "Camper Specials" (which are not the same as the "Camper Special" packages originally only available on the F250's). And yes, one can have a F350 140"wb side-mounted spare truck without it being a "Super Camper Special", just a regular F350.
Here's one that actually is a SCS: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-...QQcmdZViewItem

I did look at the post...but I did not look and pay attention to all of it.
It is awful hard to for me to absorb all the info in these post while
trying learn from the live real time experts on these trucks here at this site!
I appreciate all the info that you folks have spread around, Iam sure
other folks will learn from this tread that I did not even start...but I felt it was one I could jump in on and get some answers And I sure did!
I do have one more ? that I will post in this thread,
but not in this reply to you.
Thanks a MILLION, Dan

I am hoping someone can answer this ?
What is the difference between the 79 (Trailor Tow Package) listed earlier in this tread that is on ebay?...
and the 79 (Camper Package) that I recently posted here in the classifieds?
As they both look very simular.
Is it that one is more designed to pull a fifth wheel camper or travel trailor and
the other is more designed for the slide in type camper?
Maybe it is just option thing that I really have no clue about!
Thanks for any more info you folks can dump on me,
you all have a great site here!!!

So my 78 super Camper F-350 Reg cab (Special?) may or may not be a Super Camper special?
It has no badges but its been painted at one time so they could have went missing then?
Ive got the camper plug up on the frame behind the cab.
I have the 140" WB ?
Looks to me like after reading this my SCS isnt anything but a Camper Special?

I'll bet there was confusion with customers and salesmen after the "supercab" was intro'd in 1974 between "supercabs" and "super camper specials" and "supercab camper specials" which caused Ford to drop the "super" from the F350 "camper specials" beginning in '77.

I guess I got more questions...
My truck is a Reg Cab, 1ton, F350, 460 engine, 140 inch WB, styleside with
spare on pass side under the cover, with badging of Camper Special on front fenders.
Even though they dropped the nameplate of Super after 76
Is my 1979 without Super anywhere... be the same or
considered as a true Super Camper Special?
Or after 76 there were simply no more Super Camper Specials?
Or maybe then was it possible... they considered them
Trailer Tow and/or Camper Packages? Hmmm!
My 1979 build sheet only shows spaces for the two, Trailer Tow and Camper
and my Camper space is marked. But the Trucks seem to be pretty close to the same
Maybe the Trailer Tow was easily optioned up to the Camper Special is my Guess.

From 1965 thru 1972, Camper Specials were offered in the F100 series also. The first year for a Camper Special was 1965, and it was only available as an F100.
