Ya, who's going to be the first to finally dim side view mirrors - they have them on cars so why not on our gargantuan truck side mirrors.
I was glad to see the auto-dimmng rear view mirror on my 00 X but find that I hardly need it probably due to the height of the truck and the privacy windows out back.

What's funny is that every car BUT an X or Superduty needs the dimmer. The X sits so high and the back glass is dark enough that the auto-dimmer is only slightly beneficial. I still like it though, if only for the geek factor. The mirror is manufactured by Donnelly Corporation which was recently merged with Magna which is a high-end, high-tech automotive supplier. They make some cool stuff. I bought one of their mirrors for my Expedition back in 2000 when auto-dimming with embedded temp and compass was cool.

I honestly cannot tell the difference with the auto-dim on or off.

the thing on the left should be the light sensor for the mirror, look closer and your should be able to see the small circuit board behind it
