"new" `94 problems
I have wanted a truck for years and this one fits the bill nicely.
however, it is showing a check engine light intermitantly and that valve tap didn't seem so loud when I looked at it. also it is getting about 6 mpg.
to recap:
codes (going to get them read today)
valve tap
very poor mpg
did a search on the milage but not much success there, was thinking the tap and milage are related.
stats: XLT 4x4 standard cab, 5.8L auto with 134,000 miles. nicely maintained.

Your 94 F150 should get at least 14 MPG. But if check engine light is on you probably have a bad item thats throwing settings off.ie. 02 sensor ,erg valve,etc.
As for the valve tap you could try running some lucas through it but I'd bet its (tap ) will need some attention in time. Check air filter box for oil . If its soakedit is going to need engine work (it might run for 50000 more miles but I'd look else where if price isn't cheap) Good luck
