I am so sorry for your loss. The pain of losing a child is nearly unbearable. We lost our firstborn at 4 years old to brain cancer back in '92. You will never forget your daughters and the pain will always be there, but it does lessen over the years. My prayers are with you and your wife,
About memorial tats. Everyone that has posted have mentioned really neat tats. Very tasteful.
A girl I know doesn't quite have that kind of good sense. She gets a heart tattooed on her BUTT for everyone she cares about that has passed. Her father, grandmother, ex-boyfriend and OUR DAUGHTER! I was mortified.
When I go I certainly don't want to be remember on her a**!
Oval Obsessed, I am sorry for your loss. I hate to hear about children dying, it makes me think about my daughter. She made a year old Thursday and this past year thoughts of losing her would haunt me to no end, and still does. I will be praying for you and your wife.
Oval-obsessed my heart goes out you and your family. The thought of losing my daughter is beyond my comprehension.I do however have her portrait tattooed on my chest.I have 8 tats and each 1 has a meaning. Her portrait however has the most meaning of all.God bless.
I have not really lost anyone yet, I have been very fortunate. My sisters BF, lost his brother and father in the same car crash and has a memorial for both, skull for his dad, and a 1950 Ford for his brother, with BEER BROTHERS underneath the truck......i think its a nice way too show that one cares......a memorial is realy the only reason i'd get a tattoo, althought the toe one seems kinda funny, in a morbid way
My son was an artist. Illustrations were his forte. He was killed in an auto accident in "03. I took one of his illustrations to the tat parlor and had it copied on my right shoulder.
He drew HIS own caricature iinto the piece so now he is ALWAYS with me.
The only memorial tat I have is for my wolfdog who died years ago. Wonderful companion. I designed it as a Viking Jellinge Art style as his name was Odin.
oval, i also am sorry for your loss. i've said a prayer for you family and the girls. i know one person there with them that will keep watch over them.
I'm getting a memorial armband to remember my uncle and grandfather on 4/2. They were very special to me ,taught me my love for trucks and woodworking. It will be a wolf face with tribal flames wrapping my arm their initials will be woven into the flames.
Yes and No....
I have a Hawaiian Tattoo on my leg and I got it after my Grandmother passed away. I have been toying with the design for about a year and then this action thrust it into place. Hawaiian tattoo’s have more meaning behind them, so does mine. I have eight bands. And they mean the following:
1 – Mother’s Ancestors (the ones I never knew)
2 – Mother’s family (The ones I knew)
3 – Myself
4 – My wife
5 – My daughter
6 – My son
7 – Father’s Family
8 – Father’s Ancestors
1 and 8 are Shark Teeth
2 and 7 are a basket weave pattern
3 – 6 are spear heads
All I have to say about tattoos is put a lot of thought into them before you get one. I do not regret this tattoo at all and like I said, I did a lot of research on meanings and symbolism.
My wife did a portrait of our daughter, on her left shooulder, back. They added the cherub wings and "In loving memory of Christina" I haven't really decided I want one... hers looks good, just not sure I want to do that.
My older brother has one of our younger brother who was killed in a motorcycle accident. It's a picture of our brother, with his date of birth and date of death over him on a banner held by two angels, and below are silohettes(sp?) of a person on a bike, a bird hunter and another person kneeling by a cross. It really came out awesome, the picture looks so life-like it's almost spooky.
