I just bought a 2003 F250 SD V10 Fx4 Lariat CC with 63K on it. I came from 7 years with a 95, F150. What a hansom (I wanted to use the word GEORGOUS but that sounded funny) truck!!! Runs like a bat out of heck.
Here is my question: I would like to pull the truck in a little tighter by checking/tightening the differential lash. I know this is sounds like overkill but I have a little bit of delay from throttle to go go. Just a little bit of clunk. Not something you hear but more like feel just a little.
I really doubt your fleeing what you think your feeling...
Maybe check D-shaft U-joints, carrier bearing...
To tighten the ring gear Back-lash would mean removing the diff, pulling the bearings
and adding shims but I like I said very doubtful.
You might want to check the B/L while changing the gear lube in the diff.
It's best to have a mag-mount dial indicator, B/L should be somewhere around 10,000
give or take a few thousand is safe.
