steering column billet collar
They busted the steering column cover off, and broke the tilt lever.
Also took out the part on the ignition that helps you turn the key.
They didn't get the truck though, and didn't damage any wires.
I'm looking for one of those billet steering column collars that I have seen for Chevy's. I'd rather have something that stays on there just to protect the wires etc, not something you remove every time.
I'm not sure if they make these for Fords.
It's a 96 Ford Bronco.

Also, anyone know of an online Microfiche parts source where I could look up the parts that were broken? The ******* didn't even leave the parts he broke off. Guess he thought his fingerprints were on them. The cops said they can't get fingerprints off the plastic anyway.
I have seen them for the chevy's as well.. the GM steering columns have been the same from 73-early 90's. So the Thieves know them well.. I know personally because the same happened to me on my 1987 Cutlass supreme Salon.. but I had my own little kill switch in their.. so yea.. the busted up the column.. but it would not start.. no way.. no how.... so like you .. I KEPT my car...
I would recommend a Ford Dealer for parts.. or do what I did on my Cutlass.. I went to the boneyard.. and bought a whole column ($100) and just took the parts I needed...
I would recommend getting an Alarm installed.. $300 for a Viper 300 esp installed (Circuit City) since you have the '96 you can get the 500esp or the 550 esp (remote start)
To me its worth the piece of mind to have an alarm! I have a 1984 Bronco XLT that came from Cali. its mint.. and it has a 460 under the hood...
If you find a collar I am sure we would all love to get one!
