Ok, Yall are probably going to laugh at my for asking this but im new to the diesel truck industry and there is something that I was wanting to ask. Ok im sure there is a few people that have been to a truck or tractor pull and have seen these diesel trucks with there smoke stacks, and when ever they're pulling they roll out this HUGH cloud of black smoke, I love this and I was wondering what are they putting on their trucks to make them smoke like this please let me know. Thanks
Get some gages installed or install them yourself, you at least need EGT gage.
Then get yourself a chip from DP tuner.I think he can burn a smoke tune.It should run you about 1000.00 bucks.
There are other thing like bigger exhaust, bigger injectors, etc, etc.
But the mods i said will produce smoke,at a cost.
Might I ask how the smoke makes the truck a "real truck" even though it is not indicative of any true power or torque produced (or even real modification level) and is just for show?
This is the kind of response that does not help out great forums such as FTE to aquire new members . Why would you make a comment about ones age or question what he thinks is a real truck ? I am sure that being the "cool" diesel race guy that you have never smiled at your puff of black smoke with pleasure ? Or the cloud and smell from your burnouts has made you feel warm and fuzzy. Looking at your post history you are full of knowledge so give the OP a break and either stay out of thread or answer his question .

I haven't been around here long, but I do know that PSD 60L Fx4 is very smart when it comes to the 6.0 and you might not want to offend him if you wish for help in the future.

As stated in my post he is full of knowledge and usually replies with great information , but he dropped the ball on that one. Even if he was kidding the way his post reads is insulting to a young man seeking information. To prove my point where is the OP ? I appreciate your concern of me running the river of 6.0 knowledge dry , but I think he is more professional than that.

Naturally, every diesel truck driver smiles at a good cloud of smoke. But I do have some issues with the nature of this post.
First of all, injecting ANYTHING directly into the exhaust stream, such as diesel, propane or any other hydrocarbon substance is a serious fire hazard. Secondly, the quantity of smoke indicated as desired by the original poster is far beyond anything that should be on the street (far beyond "modified truck" level)- that that level we are talking about an actual traffic obstruction and a safety hazard. Real trucks do not potentially turn into erupting fireballs on the street or pose an actual visibilty hazard to other drivers.
And as far as the age comment, at least some degree of humor was intended since I myself was born in 1987. However, sometimes I do have to shake my head when the age of the poster is literally dripping from the post. Not intended to offend anyone, just stating the obvious.

100% agreed except on the any truck that puts out huge clouds of black smoke shouldn't be allowed on the street.. i think that as long as you don't use it in the middle of traffic it's fine, like let's say you're on a back road with one of your friends in the truck, noone else around, and you pull over, turn to him, smile, and say "look out your mirror" and you just gun it... now i think that's fine as long as you don't drive recklessly

Agreed, somewhat.
If you are out in the middle of nowhere, so be it....I'm not one to believe in speed limits or any other of such if you are out in the middle of Montana and Idaho at 4:00AM on Monday morning.
However, lets just be honest- and granted I am making an assumption here and the original poster certainly has the right to correct me- backroads-only wasn't the true intention of such modification...
I used to have a friend who didnt beleave in stops signs at 2 am in the morning..haha dont know where hes at now. Oh and beleave me....most roads around here in Montana are barely driveble at the posted speed limit lol...you better know how deep the pothole is before you try to drive over it haha.

haha i know i know, i'm just trying to justify what he wants to do trust me once i get a dp tuner with the 140 aggressive smoke tune, i won't just be puttin a wall of black behind me on back roads (there's only like 1 around me anyway!), i'll be floorin it everywhere!

But the inherent difference is being overlooked here.....
Do you realize the difference in smoke between a 140 horse tune or even a truck with a set of large injectors, and injecting any raw hydrocarbon or other fluid directly into a 1000+ degree exhaust stream?

i'm not talking about injecting anything directly into the exhaust, and i actually am getting bigger injectors + the tuner, and i know that there isn't that much of a difference between the 140 horse tuen and bigger injectors, and don't worry i'm not trying to get this stuff just to "look cool" i'm getting it for the performance gains (the smoke is just a cool looking plus )
