Any one out there know of a place I could get my frame Hot riveted as in stock. I have to replace a cross member on my C-700 and would prefer to have the replacement hot riveted as was stock. I know I can use bolts but my prefrence is the hot rivets. Problem is I can not find anyone that can do it. HELP
Hot riveting is very straight forward and Bobby's link to Big Flat Rivets is a good one. A handfull of rivots, a setting tool and backing tool, a torch and a helper and do it yourself. It really is easy to do. Place the cold rivet in the hole. Cut the rivot off such that the rivot shank extends about 2 or slightly more rivet diameters beyond the joint (to allow material to be peened over).Draw the two pieces tightly together with a clamp and bolts in the holes not yet rivoted. Get your buddy to hold the backing tool and have him torch heat the end of the rivot until red and then you set the rivet with one or two blows. Repeat as necessary. The setup takes longer than the riveting.

A bucket of charcoal works perfect for heating the rivets and cooking lunch.
Oh and no Frosties until after all the rivets are used, we don't need no more games of Red Rivet Come Over.
