My Floor is HOT

My Floor is HOT
Ok, heres the deal. I took my carpet out a few weeks ago because i got my bronco stuck in some really really deep water and it smelled like a dead rat inside, and i am actually enjoying not having the carpet out. I am planning to line the entire interior with hurculiner or something similar. The problem is that my floor gets so rediculously hot it's not funny. I could burn my self if i was driving bare-footed.
1. Will putting bedliner down help the floors from getting so hot?
2. can i put something like a heat shield or insulation under the bronco to help keep things cool inside?
3. Is it even normal for things to get this hot inside?
Thanks for your help.

where does it get hot? is it the whole floor or just the area over the exhaust pipe? the cats will get real hot and make the floor get hot too. the carpet and padding act as insulation to keep the heat down inside your truck. bedliner might help, and it might not. check and see if your heat sheilds on the exhaust are still in place.

it's getting hot over the tranny, over the mufflers and over the cats.
i don't have a heat shield on one of my cats because i have true duals. I'm working on making a heat shield for the other one now. would it help to make heat shields for the mufflers? and i don't quite understand why it's getting so hot in the tranny area.
