I think thats hilarious what that old feller said to ya snow! As for bc girls being hotter, I dont know. Ive lived in both and there are some hot ones in both places, but either calgary or saskatoon I would say has the hottest chicks out of anywhere. Gotta love the university in sask in the summer!
Welcome aboard!!! WinterRoad, where about in this fair province are you from?
I'm hoping to have my first good look at my donor truck on Monday.
I've been at work a LOT lately. Starting Monday, my schedule's back to normal for a few weeks. It would seem I've missed a lot.
Thanks for the warm welcome guys, sorry for not checking in sooner. Fullcrew7.3 I'm back and forth btw my business and good ole Wpg. My business is up on the east side of Lake Wpg. Winter road access only, if I'm lucky maybe I'll make it last until the end of March this year. Last year I was the last guy off the road. Man, the water and the muskeg... I'd swear I was having fun if it wasn't work. At least I never went swimming.
What kind of business do you run winter? Gotta love muskeg too huh!
I've got a chicken and pizza place/conv. store that services an isolated indian reserve. I'm on the northeast corner of Lake Wpg. and possibly one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Working on moving my store from the big log house we are in now, and converting the place into an affordable fly-in lodge.
Some of the muskeg we've got is that floating bog kind, with no bottom. Gotta watch cause when it thaws all the way, DOWN you go... Bye! We've poked into it with a 20 foot stick and can't hit anything. I love the old stories and pics of excavators and Cats disappearing.
NE corner of Lake Winnipeg? That's a bit of a drive. My uncle wa up in God's lake for a couple years, but that's about the closest there I know of. Imagine you'd be a lot closer to Thompson than the 'peg.
Do you guys have an airstrip or do you get supplies by boat in the summer?
Yep, we've got an airstrip but freight is $0.75/lb, unless you have perishable items then it's $1.50/lb. Cheaper to charter a whole plane... if you can fill it FULL. There is also a barge transporting goods, when it is not broken down. Usually broken down somewhere on the lake, except right now it's frozen in the river here. Was supposed to be dry-docked this winter to try and fix some of the problems but winter had other plans. I usually try and charter one of my friend's commercial fishing boats to haul my freight in. (I bought a boat, THEN checked the govt. rules/regs. oops, guess I have a boat for sale)
Fishing is great! Gods is really good too, but the airstrip there is SCARY. If you want bizarre fishing and scenery head up the Poplar River. Rapids, waterfalls... I'll post some pics. later on.
