Could be transferring

I cruise here almost daily but might be transferring over from the '61-'66 forum. My '65, with it's 240 I6 is on it's last legs -mechanically ok but the body's going to fall off the frame one of these days. I had a '51 as a kid (30 years ago) and would really love to pick one up but having trouble finding any in my area. My next favorite would be the '48-'50 and just had a potential deal on a '49 fall through. Today my buddy calls and gave me a name and number for a guy who is going to send a '54 or '55 to the crusher. He thought it could be picked up for a couple of hundred. Truck has no motor of tranny and has been sitting for quite a while, but apparently the body is solid. Called the guy and he isn't going to crush it for a month so I have some time to decide. Going to look on Sunday. Wish me luck!

As Dick already mentioned, fresh victims are always welcome.....lol

Good luck on the truck, I prefer the older trucks also but those new ones (53-56) are growing on me a bit.

Thanks guys!

I'll know more Sunday but this truck could be had fairly cheap. He isn't going to get much from the scrap yard AND he has to haul it about 75 miles to get it there. Unfortunately for me, he lost the title. Nothing $130 won't fix.

I've notice the humor on this board, hope you guys can see sarcasm. Not that I would ever use any...

Maybe I'll post some pictures on Sunday after viewing the truck.

Cookies are on their way. Hope you guys don't mind that I mixed all three kinds together. Not sure how the raisins will taste with chocolate chips and peanut butter. Hope those were raisins.

Question though...

What would the approximate vehicle weight of this truck be minus the engine and tranny?

No clue on the engine weight, but if you bring along some frosty beverages I doubt we'd even notice that the cookies were a mix of all three.

Ballpark...take the weight of the truck and take off 600 to 700 lbs depending on what engine/trans combo was in it.
