I was there in nov 02, B Co. 2-47 Had the greatest time of my life (excluding the deployment) at basic, I always loved the military and cant get enough of it. I would go back to benning in a heart beat. Sand Hill will forever hold a dear place in my heart.

A word of thanks for all who donate and help out the USO from a very greatful vet who has used the USO's services more than once. Late in '02 our Squadron was headed over to Kyrgyzstan via BWI. We got bumped and had to hang out at the airport all day. Thank God for the USO. Most of our time was spent in their area waiting for our flight. It was just nice to be able to secure our gear instead of having someone watch it if anyone wanted to go walk around. Books, magazines, snacks, movies, phones, a place to rest. Caught another one on the way back from overseas again in Jan '06. Way early in the am, but still open. I think someone told them we were coming and opened up. Wonderful are the people who man the USO's. All volunteers if I am not mistaken. Although a small part of what the USO does, an airport USO lounge may not seem like much to those who have never needed one, but to those of us who have been there, they are wonderful. So again, many thanks to FTE for doing this, and to all you who are helping out.

Rich

Good news re USO at DFW Airport ..... the local paper made note that the USO was low on cash for cookies and greetings for vets and the community came up with over $300,000.

thats awesome, It makes me feel so good that civilians pull together to support the troops. Even if they dont agree with the war, its great that they are standing up for the troops, unlike in the past. It just tears my heart out thinking about how bad our vietnam vets had it and how good we have it now.

Sorry for my rant, just good to hear stuff like this

The lack of response to this USO thread so turned me off that its not worth the disappointment to try another.
