I'm new to the site. Bought a 2002 7.3 Diesel 4x4 , in October 2006. Very happy w/ the truck. Want to inprove the Headlight output.
I owned a 1995 GMC 6.5T Suburban before this. I installed a headlight harness on it that allowed me to light all four headlights on High Beam. Excellant results.
Powerdiesel.com offers a harness for the X that does that, but unlike the Suburban harness which you could pull a plug to use only two lights on High Beam, this harness, once installed will Always use High & Low beam in the High Beam position.
Any problems with this? Melting headlight or others?
Just something to think about... I know on the newer suburbans, the high-beams are in a separate housing than the lows (I don't know about the older ones), but in the X's both filaments are in the same housing. I would be worried about all that extra heat in there possibly causing a problem if both were illuminated for a long time. I don't know if it would be a problem or not, but its just something to think about.
