My 79 didn't have a locker for the longest time until I got stuck one night, burried up to the hood, and that made me blow my motor up when it stalled and sucked up water. The next month, after building new motor, put a locker in the front and went right through the same hole. That was the best thing I ever did.
i would rather not have locker , b/c its more fun gettin in a hole or somthin and workin yer way out of it ...instead of just drivin through it ... puts on more of a show to ...
LOL, I rather getting in that same hole in 2wd, and workin my way out of it and be able to KEEP going to get to a bigger better hole. Theres nothing more frustrating then getting out of your stuck rig, to see one tire sitting on hard pack dry ground, and the other marginally in trouble. Lock it on both ends!!! lol

There is something to be said about making a run with a almost stock rig, and parking at the top next to all the heavly modified J#@ps and Bow Ties.
Not that lockers would not be nice at times but where I have wanted them my better half has pointed at the rocks the size of VWs and convinced me otherwise. Her opinion is that lockers will get me in more trouble trying to find a chalange. I agree to a point it is nice having a good experiance on trails that are not of the new rock buggy variety.
I point out to my better half what i would like/do like about and for my rig
Not takin shots at a rig in stock form, but theres a limit that comes real fast with them. When i get "temperaraly delayed", i want it to be worth my while, if the diffs arent pushin the top layer, i shouldnt be stuck haha

people are somewhat against lockers and this is an offroad forum? crickey something is terribly wrong!
i'm starting to feel like i am in a jeep forum here (no offense jeremy )
just b/c you HAVE a locker doesnt mean you have to use it. its a like a credit card, not something you have to have but when you get in a pickle it can save your butt!
