I did it !!!
I changed the bushings on my 48 f-1 king pins
made up a reamer with old pins and finished with the dremel to hone them
worked out really good
for being almost 60 year old truck everything came apart so easy
now the Snow has to melt and I will be happy!!
Joe
Joe,
Congrats on your ingenuity and succes!! sip a congratulatory frosty beverage and consider your back patted.
Your truck is a thing of beauty!! Simply gorgeous!! I really like the running board treatment. Usually when you see the flatbeds they have the shorter runnind boards (or at least the onces I've seen)
Good stuff Joe, it`s nice when a 60 year old truck comes apart like that, makes the job so much quicker.
When the snow melts we`ll all be happy, it will be so nice to get the toys out after a long winter!
Joe, I thoroughly enjoyed viewing your gallery, you dont see many vintage stake trucks around My neck of the woods. Its very clean, and you can see the love and attention you have put into it. JIMMY
in 48 the f-1 have a long running boardit is odd space on the truck
most later stakes have a short running board
also most of the wood on the truck is almost 60 years old
Joe
we welded a bolt to the top
rounded the tip
cut grooves with a dremel
used a slow speed on a hand held drill
then used a dremel stone on the bushing to finish
