Hi I'm new here Anyway i just bought a 99' Ford-150 lariat
And it has about 98,000 miles on it...I have been noticing
that when I'm coming to a stop the trans shifts hard around
3rd or 2nd gear, I did check the fluid and it looks fine but i
Don't know if it has ever been changed....Maby somebody
can help me figer this out Thanks Rob
A transmission service or flush would be a good place to start. A 99 should have a torque converter drain plug so you can actually change all the fluid instead of having it flushed but either way is good.
Does the OD light ever flash?
Yeah that's more money than i want to spend right now.
I'm looking for a quick fix if there is one.
Does anybody thank that the tranny will just go out on me
or can i just drive it and not worry about it?
i`ve drove mine for over a year and carried my camper and pulled sled trailer no prob. my t-case has a sloppy chain and a bad bearing on the 4wheel side.. i got a tranny and t-case with 38000kms for 750. so i`ll change it all .otherwise drive it untill it blows..or like i did watch for a used one. someone allways wrights one off sooner or later
Hi...new here....I have a '99 F-150 with 139,000 miles on it. I haven't had any work done on the tranny since I have owned it. My tranny just started down shifting very rough and the OD light is flashing....what is going on??? HELP!
The OD light works on the transmission similarly to the check engine light for the engine. If the light has been flashing there will be a trouble code stored in the truck's PCM (Powertrain Control Module). You should get it scanned to see what caused the problem. The most common cause of a flashing OD light is a bad Vehicle Speed Sensor.
Took my truck to get the codes read this weekend...they couldn't find any error codes....now it is driving like normal again...what is going on??? Could it have gotten too hot in stop and start Atlanta traffic last week and made the light blink? should I be driving in Drive in this kind of traffic? Thanks in advance.
Have you installed a chip or tuneing..I would disconnect the batts for several hrs..then run the truck for 45min without cutting it off, I just installed a series 57 K&N filter it has the heat sheild, and that what K&N tech reccomended and now I noticed my trans holding back more when I decel..Ive gotten the superchip micro tuner II set at stock mode for now...its a 2001 4x4 lariat 5.4L..its one sweeet truck..The stop and go traffic should,nt matter unless your trans cooler is stoped up...
well driving to work this morning...Overdrive light started flashing again...the only time it is downshifting hard is when I am just about to come to a stop...so I guess when it is shifting back into 1st gear. The truck is 100% stock.
