i was wondering how hard it will be to take a dana 60 rear out of a 1976 ford f250 and make it so its has 35 spline axle shafts. right now its just 30 splines.
You would be better off finding a Dana 70. Even if you found someone who had the tooling to bore the spindles, you would have to get axles made. Boring them also makes the spindles week.
He understood the question perfectly well. You need to bore the spindles out to accept the 1.5" shafts, but that will make the spindles weaker. You are much better off starting with a Dana 70.
as i understand it the O.D. of the spindle on the d60 is the same as the O.D. of the spindle on a d70. the d60 spindle is just thicker, untill its bored out, then its pretty much the same as a d70. i read a big comparison somewhere, and convienently i cant remember where, but they showed pictures too
well i run a d70b also(blew up my 60) so when i got the 70 i did a bunch of research reading articles and what not and that is what i found... take it or leave it
