All I know is that I heard / felt some grinding goin on in the rear end. Brought it in to the deal and they told me that the bearings were cashed and needed to be replaced ASAP. That is all I know.
Bought (am still buying) the truck @58k (76+k now), had it a month and noticed a howling/grinding noise in the rear. Luckily bought the ext. warranty, but the rear end was shelled. Metal filings to the outer wheel bearings. Everything covered under warranty, $2700 in damages (retail replacement). This is what you get buying a used truck and not knowing how the previous owner treated it (could also be fate). On the history report, Ford dealer stated that the previous owner had the rear end serviced after a diff. piece broke through the pumpkin cover. I guess (x)hit happens and things break.
