Chip Question

I was curious of how effective a flash program would be. I have an extra IDM and thought using it. How much could I get out of stock injectors. I have a 3" downpipe and no cat, but otherwise pretty much stock. Which program could I get the most out of. I was noticing that DP offers flash programming with numerous settings (16) to choose from. Any suggestions?

You dont flash your idm but you can upgrade to a newer one that increases the voltage output. 100 volt 94.5-97, there is a 110 and a 120 from the superdutys.

The pcm is what is used to flash new programs in. If you do get it flashed there is only one setting. You have to buy an adjustable chip to change from different programs (16 positions)

With your stock injectors you can see up to 75 hp gains above stock.

The pcm is in the firewall. Open the hood and look behind the intake the wiring harness to the far right that goes into the firewall is the pcm.

The idm is on the fender right by the intake

I guess most of it is hidden behind the kick panel. I assume (scary thought) it comes out from the engine compartment side. If so I see why this may not be the ideal way to get some more power. If do I decide to get a tuner, I saw where DP sells them with one or more programs (up to 16), can they add more later if I were anly able to get two or three now. $$$$$ . I've seen some post but are most of you happy with your tuners. What programs you suggest.

I understand now, they have an SCT programmer with dp tuner tunes. The only downside to the programmer is having to stop and shutoff the truck and reprogram it, takes like 5 minutes. A plus to the programmer is you can get your tunes emailed to you and you just upload them onto your SCT. With the f5 or other "chips" you just push a button and your in a new program on the fly. Programmers are more reliable because there is no chip to vibrate out of the pcm. But I love changing programs on the fly, I will usually drive around in "stock" untill the engine is warm then crank it up.

Thats why I said USUALLY! haha. I try not to romp on it when its cold, but when the opportunity comes by I will.

That is a huge advantage with having a chip. When I used my edge programmer I was never in the right program at the right time.

I agree, with the superchips i had, I just left it in High performance tune. Unless I was gonna tow heavy.

That's why I had Jody build me a custom switch for my tuner. With my 2 position, I had him graft it to one of those big red mad max switches so I could put it on my shifter. You know the push pull kind? I love it, in the down position is my 40hp setting, and to make the world smokey and blurry, just pull the switch and MASH AWN IT SON!!!!!!

I have always wanted a little "go baby go" button on top of my shifter for nitrous, or water meth.
