tranny noise
hey fells,
my dad has an 04 f-250 sd. this is what i drive when my dually breaks down so i drive it alot.
so my question is when i put the pedal to the metal and then when it shifts from 1st to 2nd i get a squeak? is this normal. it only does when when shifting form 1st to 2nd and only when i have to floored.
and somtimes when i start it i get another sqeaking noise from under the hood.
what are these noises?

That would be tough. All kinds of things squeek under the hood.
If it was me, I am cheap, I would suspect the fan belts first. These will sometimes squeek when the engine load suddenly changes like when shifting under hard acceleration.
The way to check is remove the fan belts and drive it like you said and see if the squeek went away. BE CAREFUL, YOU WON'T HAVE POWER STEERING. And of course don't drive like this any longer than it takes to check things out.
If the belts aren' t the problem then I would start to suspect hings like body bushings and hangers of various sorts(Exhaust, shields, etc). then I would look at the tranny, but that will cost ya.
