[updated:LAST EDITED ON 15-Aug-02 AT 01:51 PM (EST)]Ok, here's a dumb one. I need to get my front rotors turned but hell if I can figure out how to get the dang things off! I've looked through the Chiltons book, got the special tool, got the auto-locking hub off, and then nothing. I'm stuck from here on out. PLEASE HELP!!! I have a 1989 Bronco TTB front discs with auto-locking hubs (factory). I've twisted, pulled, screwed, unscrewed everything I can see but nothing else seems to want to come off. The spindle nut turns a few turns but then stops dead (there's still something in front of it, smaller, but I don'tknow it it's part of the nut). what do i do next? Thanks
This is where the specail tool comes in. It should fit up into the front of the hub. Seat the four raised tips into the four slots in the hub. Mine is spring loaded and you need to apply some pressure inward toward the hub and turn just like it was a nut and unscrew. may try and find a haynes manual for better pic and instructions.
hope that helps
I tried that, ant the nut only turned about 5 or 6 turns then it just stopped. I pulled very hard on the ratchet and it didn't even budge. So i tried it the other way and it turned about the same abount of turns to the right, then stopped dead again. Come to think of it, it was not tight either way to begin with. It was just floating between the two stopping points. Does that make any sense? This is why I'm confused. I feel like i missed something a long the way that is preventing me from getting that nut off. It seems like it should be easy enough.
