Yes, that would be good to know! dc3655, your profile shows you own an F-150. Update that profile and please share more specific info on your PSD.

Thanks!

Sorry about that! The F-150 was a commuting vehicle that I used for a while until I couldn't stand not having a diesel! I'll update it, but I have a late 05 CC SB with the 20" rims.... I love it. Anyways, I bought a Quadzilla XZT since it was for towing and economy and it proved to be everything that I was hoping for! I bought this 6L Powerstroke after towing with an 04 Excursion PSD that had an Edge Juice. When I bought my truck, I realized the power that the Edge had added to his X. I know a lot of people like the SCT and I've thought about going with it in the future because of the tranny control, but right now I'm totally stoked with the way my truck is running with this module. Not to mention that I'm getting 18mpg running dry at 75mph on the highway and 11mpg towing at 75mph.

Overdrive

I pull a 30" fifthwheel and have found to let the transmission do its thing. Traveling south on interstate 5 through the Sacramento valley, I will sometimes buck a head wind at which time it will shift out of OD and once the wind stops, shift right back to OD. So trust the comfuter!!

What's hurting it by pulling 14,000 lbs with cruise control turned on? I do. Yeah, it hunts some of the time but the temperature stays well within reason. So, as long as the trans is cool, what am I hurting - other than gas mileage?

That's odd, my 2005 PSD pulls a 16,000 # Fifth wheel just fine in cruise control. I usually run the speed limit on the NM interstates or highways with no issue as far as hunting. Engage the Tow/Haul mode any time you are pulling about 5,000 pounds or more. As was stated, it's wonderful with braking. I also engage Tow/Haul empty, when decending steep hills.

I don't think there is anything wrong with towing in cruise control per se, but you will find that it doesn't anticipate the hills as well as you can with the throttle. That is the only thing different I can see, that when you are going down a long grade you can allow some speed to pick up and get you further up the next grade without getting into the throttle as much. Other than that no big deal!
On the other subject of Tow/Haul mode Hijacker just put it into Tow mode when your towing and forget it. At least until you shut off the truck then you need to reset it again. I tow almost 13000 #'s and use it all of the time. The tranny works great and is very useful for slowing down and stop and go situations in traffic.

For those with the built in Trailer Brake Controller (TBC), is anyone aware of a mod that would automatically put the Trans in Tow/Haul mode if a trailer is hooked up? This would make it even a little more idiot proof...

I asked the same question last week in the tech folder under the subject "Tow/Haul on startup" and still have no answers.

I have seen a mod posted that will always start it in T/H mod, but none that will start it in the appropriate mode. It should be smart enough, it knows if a trailer is attached to the brake circuit... You could assume that if the trailer is light enough to not need brakes, it would not matter to the truck what mode it was in.

I agree with those who use cruise control. I use it any time I can while in tow haul. coming down the mountain on Skyline Drive, cc + th keeps the rig (6k tt) right at 30mph and don't have to use the brakes at all. Used cc + th cross country from 40mph to 75mph, flat, mountains, no problem. I don't recall ever being annoyed by hunting issues. Sometimes I'd forget to put it in th after a pit stop, but never saw it as a biggie; just hit the button when I remember.
