Howdy, I have enjoyed this forum for some time. Have found lots of useful info
concerning my truck, a early 99 SD supercab 4x4 short bed with 128000 miles. Truck is used to pull four horse trailer with no complaints. When truck was purchased I did fail to realize the my kids would both grow to over 6 feet tall. Back seat sucks. I have found a 2002 crewcab SD 2x4 long bed with 79000. I realize that I will be losing 4x4 but really not a big deal for me. My real question is: Are there any BIG differance between 99 and 02. Both 7.3 both 3.73 gears both automatic. Thanks

the only diff from an early 99 is the power...99.5 and up have a 17* hpop our early 99 has a 15*..they also have a little bigger injectors and turbo..but with the bigger turbo you will notice surge when pulling and less of a whistle..both can be fixed with a little extra cash..if you like to mod your truck you will find it is easer to find after market parts for the 99.5 and up..with that said if you do like to mod and get good hp..the 02 your looking at has PMR's where our early 99 up to mid 01 has the touph MR's.

I, too, have the '02 Crew 2WD. There is lots more room in my back seat than in the middle seat of my '96 Suburban. In fact, there's more room in the back seat than in the front because of the absence of the steering wheel and dash. Some of my kids are small (7-10), and I've put all three of the "little ones" in back with one of their older sibs (making it four in the back row), and they are snug but not uncomfortable.
My 6'4'' brother can ride in the back seat of my crew cab and not feel crowded. During the week my back seat if full of tools and the kids own it on the weekend. You won't regret the crew cab.
