Okay so I have a 1995 ford econoline van with the 5.8. The engine has 122,000. I just hooked up some subwoofers and now it wont start. Ive unhooked them and it still wont start. It will crank over just not fire. I am almost positive its getting gas and not spark. What do you think it could be? Distributor? Coil? Does anyone know if the subwoofers could have shorted something out or did something to the electrical system to make there be no spark? Oh yes, ive checked all the fuses inside and under the hood and 5 of them under the hood were blown so I replaced them. Weird huh? Also I havnt changed the relays but I did switch them around..(there are 3) please help if you have any kind of answer. Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Here's a small part of the wiring for your van. Notice it has some fusible links in the wiring. These are colored rubber things in the wiring that burn in two to protect the wiring harness.
With all those fuses blown, I suspect you may have a fusible link blown. If you look at the diagram, you will notice the fusible links are near the battery, and they feed the fuse box and ignition switch.
thank you. i will try and read it. think i can do it lol. hopefully that is my problem. How do I go about fixing it if that is the prob. do i go to autozone or any other auto parts store and get the little rubber things? Thanks very much!
This Van does not use a Fuse Link in the Ignition Circuit.
I would say you have a Fuse bad (G 60 Amp or U 30 Amp) or the Ignition Switch.
Also check the Ignition Switch Plug and the sockets of these two fuses where they plug into. Check the top of these two fuses with a test light to see if they have power on them (both sides).
Fuse "G" feeds the Ignition Switch and fuse "U" is after the Ignition Switch.
If you do not have a test light get one if you are going to work around wiring on the van.
