Is there anyway to lift the front of 4wd about an inch, ie.different springs? I put on 31x10.50 and I think it would look better with a little more wheel well in the front.
Thanks
If the coils haven't been replaced that would help. I use F350 2x4 coils but I haul with mine . But you can get hd F150 coils . I swapped on last truck there was 4" difference between old and new . I knew it sagged some but I didn't think it was that bad good luck . They also have lift coils but if you don't need much stockers will do . good luck
advance autoparts has them, CC824 for around $80. They are for the f-250's, but have the same spring rate so they will ride the same. The difference is the height of the spring. It gave my truck about 2" lift over my old springs. If you want more than that, I think superlift makes some, but then youre talking new shocks too. Alignment will also have to be done either way.
You should be able to add a leaf spring. I think I figured out that your truck is a 4X4. You could also put in a set of airbags, Airlift has a kit for the front of this series truck everything bolt in place. Keep in mind that if you add a spring or put in bags, your already rough ride is going to be really rough.
F150's dont have leaf springs in the front.
I also did the F350 4x2 front coils trick as well. I love it. It firmed up the ride and the truck dosent drop much with the plow on the front. You could also get coil spacers though not recomended.
I'm sure that some of our FTE sponsers have springs too. Dont foreget about them. Good Luck.
yes you can replace the springs without adding drop brackets or replacing shocks, just have to do the alignment. Although if you needed new shocks it would be a good time to replace them.
Should I use stock f-150 shocks with the longer springs? I think my truck has the caster/camber adjuster on the top balljoint (isn't that a factory thing?)
Are the f-150 HD springs the same as the f-250 springs?
Yes you can use the factory shocks. Also the trucks do come with factory adjusters but the aftermarket ones allow for much greater adjustment. Look at Matt0963's previous post for spring specs. In there it shows that yes some f150 springs are longer/stronger than F250 springs.
I ordered the CC824's today, and will install them on the weekend. Hopefully my stock caster/camber adjusters will allow enough adjustment to straighten things out!
Thanks for all the help guys, I'll let you know how it turns out.
