What trans do I have?

I have a '90 F350 Crewcab 4X4, 460, auto. What transmission does this truck have? It appears to be a 3-speed like a C6 but some sources say the C6 was done in '79. The dash says PRND21. No OD. I thought an injected 460 like this would be sure to have a 4-speed auto. The trans code on the door is G. Thanks for the info guys.

G = C6 Transmission.

The C6 was still around in 1996.

Thanks Bill. Man I need Overdrive. This thing tachs close to 3,000 rpm at 65 mph. It's like there's a hole in the fuel tank. E40D an easy swap?

i would keep the c6. it a better trans in my opinion

C-6 is way better trans . The e4od is computer controlled so if have a parts truck to get ECM for 460 with E4od trans and harness plus whatever else you should be OK. In 1990 your truck was a work truck they didn't think about going 65 MPH just how it would tow. Good luck on whatever you decided to do.

I know what you mean about the no overdrive. I have a 96 f250 with the 460 and a C6. Oh well, everyone says it's the better tranny so it's hard to complain about that...until you go to the pump.
