Engine gasket kit question...
Guys I bought some GT40 iron heads from a Cobra and a GT40 intake setup from an explorer and was wondering what is the best gasket kit to buy to complete the installation up top? Another thing will either the explorer kit or the cobra kit have the correct gaskets for the timing chain cover and water pump come re-installation. Technically speaking the explorer, cobra and F-150 302 gaskets should all be the same when it comes to the front gaskets right?

The explorers used a shorter waterpump and a different timing cover than the others, but I don't know what the difference is in the gaskets. I'm pretty sure the timing cover gasket set isn't going to come with the upper end gaskets (maybe I'm wrong) so you can buy the timing gasket set separately anyway. If not, I'd think that the cobra would be the same as the truck, definitely more-so than the explorer.

The Cobra and Explorer use the same intake gaskets. The timing set will need to be for your truck. The waterpumps use different gaskets. The timing cover gasket is the same for all. The truck timing set will include the Explorer pump gasket, but I'm not sure if the reverse is true, I've never bought the Explorer timing set. If you buy Felpro gaskets, the contents are listed on the box as to what gaskets are in the set.
