My wife is wanting to work at home or not work at all and since we just found out that we are going to have a baby and babysitting prices are really high she would like to stay at home. but we cant afford for her to stay at home. we have talked about babysitting but she would like to be able to run errands and stuff during the day if needed and leave for a week or 2 to go on vactions.
So I have thought of one thing: Make slideshows (for weddings funnerals, anniversary parties,etc..). When we got married we couldnt find anyone to make a slideshow for us. So i was thinking that she could do that but i cant find much information about it like copyright laws, pricing and that kind of stuff. If you guys can help out or thinking of something eles she could do from home that would be great.
Don't know what kind of income your wanting for your wife to work at home or what her interests are, but I would recommend looking into medical transcriptionist. You can take classes or online courses and most of the time work at home. It's a pretty short program to complete. Typing skills and medical terminology are the main points that will be taught. Just an idea.
Before you decide on anything, wait until the baby arrives. Newborns are a full time job for the mom and a part time job for the dad. Don't take on too much until your achieve your new "normal". You'll need sleep.

Are you talking about being the photgrapher, and making slideshows? Or, making slideshows from other peoples images that they would bring to her?
I'm always glad to hear about moms staying home with the little ones. Newborns are without a doubt a full time job so do listen to dumptech's advice.
Companies such as J. Crew and Sears are outsourcing call centers to people who work at their homes in the US. Pay is typically between $25,000 and $40,000 a year and the jobs usually don't include benefits. Legitimate jobs are available through established outsourcing firms such as West Corporation, LiveOps, Alpine Access and Working Solutions. When my son attends kindergarten next year this is what I'll be looking into doing. I don't need benefits but I do want to be able to be home when he gets off of the bus and this is ideal plus they also have very flexible schedules.
Good luck to you and your family.

it would actually be making a slideshow from other peoples pictures. They would pick their own pictures, put them in the order that they want them in, and select the music. I have been doing a lot of searching around the area photograghers to see if they do them. Only 3 of the 12 that I contacted do them. They were all charging around $200-250 to do a 10-15 minute slideshow and that is about 150 pictures.
The thing that I am having trouble on is a good and cheap way to advertise.
This would also be good for me to do in the winter when I am not working very much.

I will have to look into those. I really want my wife to stay home especially with the cost of daycare. We did think about doing a daycare but dont know for sure yet. The money is good thats for sure but she also wants to be able to go and meet me for lunch somedays or go see her folks. Basicly have a flexible schedule.
Let her go to work at a day care. She will get a discount for her baby,,,,,,,,,,but its a fact of life that most women DO NOT WANT TO LEAVE THE HOME AFTER A BABY, at lease for the first year.
