I didnt spend much time trying but whats the trick to remove the dash *****? I know how to do the ign switch, but what about the light, wipers, choke ect?
The headlight ****/shaft is removed from the switch by pressing a release button back on the switch while pulling out on the ****. The **** looks to be molded on to the shaft.
Most of the other ***** mentioned look to either be molded on to a shaft or utilize a hex set screw to secure them to the shaft.
I'm curious of the best way to separate a "molded on" type of **** from the shaft.
For the headlight switch ****, you need to reach up behind the dash. There is a spring loaded button on the top of the switch that you need to depress while pulling the **** out. The **** and the shaft will come out of the switch. It may take a little bit of jiggling to get it to come loose. Just remember that the headlights will be on, so you either want to disconnect the battery, or gently push the switch off without re- engaging the ****.
The wiper **** has a small set screw (allen hex head) in the side of it.
If I remember correctly, the **** is not made to come off of the choke cable. To remove it, you need to remove the entire choke cable. There is a nut on the back side of the dash that screws to the bezel and clamps it to the dash. The manual throttle comes apart the same way.
The heater controls are similar to the choke cable. There are nuts holding them from behind the dash. The exception is the blower motor switch. The **** is removed the same way as the wiper switch, and there is a 2 slotted nut inside the bezel on the front of the dash.
