spline count

I have a 79 4X4 f-150 w/ 351 m c-6 205. I just need to know what my spline count is for my 9 inch trying to buy gears and a locker but dont know if its a 28 or 31 spline? Help?

The only way to really know on these old trucks is to pull an axle and count.

Well.... you can also post the numbers off the axle IDent tag.
