I just picked up an '03 X with the 6L PSD and am looking at doing a few mods. The first will be a tuner and I like the option of having something like the Edge Juice w/Attitude to monitor various parameters. Anybody running one and have an opinion? TIA
I had an Edge box on my 04. It did nothing to help the tranny with the extra power and caused the clutches to slip. The newer Edge Platinum edtion helps the transmission out a bit but not enough. I would recommend getting an Sct tuner. It makes the most and safest power for the 6.0. Supporting vendors such as www.lidiesel.com can set you up with one. If you feel you have to get the Edge use only levels 1-3. Your tranny will thank you.
Yes, recommend the SCT too. I started with an Edge Juice Platinum and thought it was sweet. Then, tried out an SCT. HUGE difference. I dumped the Edge off on eBay and got me an SCT with custom tunes. WAY better tranny response and control. WAY, WAY more power.
What does the SCT do to help the tranny deal with the extra power?
It''s all done in the programming. The other programmers don't do anything to change the programming in the tranny. It really tightens up the shifting and limits the slipping.

Just curious.....The Ford Edge Evolution has a program that just adjust the tranny, then has two more that tweek the hp & tq. I am in the market for a tuner and this is the one I am leaning towards. Still researching though.

I didn't think the Evo did much to help when I had it. If you really want to shift good and get a bit of extra towing power, look at the SCT xCal2 or Live Wire.
