YYUUUPPPPPP!! Sounds About Right

Smokin' n' Lopin'. Gettin' way too much fuel. Someone may have messed with the pump timing in which case you shouldn't run it or drive it. Get it to an injection specialist and get a pro diagnosis. It's will be $75 well spent. One thing about diesels. They aren't for the faint of heart. Take it to someone that SPECIALIZES in diesel injection, and that's all they do, if you can. You don't need a misdiagnosis.

Now, all things aside. You could have a bad turbo. There are other things that will mimic your symptoms so again, use a real pro to get the answers right.

PS Im not sure what the redline is on that truck but I'm thinking your gettin close at 2500. Tone it down!

welcome to F.T.E. dirty intentions
the Governor shuts the pump down at 3500 rpm. if you only get 2500, and have no power, there is a problem somewhere. there will be no turbo on an 87 unless it is aftermarket.

and a better place to post questions on this engine is down a bit in the pre-powerstroke forum. there are allot of diesel gurus there, and can answer just about every kind of question you can think of.
