camber problems

the truck had a 4" lift on it when i bought it, rancho i think. i wanted to go another 2 inches, so i just got bought some 6" lift springs from skyjacker. the drop brackets and all look the same, so i figured it would be okay. i put the new coils in today and the camber is way positive. the springs were actually 2" taller, but raised the truck 3.5". is there a way to correct the camber without having to swap those drop brackets?

thanks!

You need to take the truck in for an alignment. Any time you change your suspension, you need to make sure the alignment is in check. It shouldn't be to much of a big deal, some lifts come with eccentric bolts for the axle pivots that you can adjust. If your's doesn't, then the next step would be to adjust the alignment bushing in the upper ball joints. Again, sometimes when you get an alignment done, if the mechanic is good, they put in offset bushings in the top joint, so all you need to do is pivot that bushing until your truck comes into alignment. If you don't have the right bushings, the trucks camber will still be off. If you don't have the right stuff to do the alignment, best bet is to find a good shop that is familiar with doing alignments on lifted trucks (especially fords with the TTB) and let them do it.

Good luck!

swapping those brackets are going to be your easiest solution! otheriwse you could cut off the inner-C's and turn them a few degrees or you could have a set of radius arms built to correct the camber issue, but like i said getting longer drop bracktes are prolly your best bet esp if you dont wheel hard

Well, see, now I'm confused. I thought this was on the 86 with a TTB. Then there wouldn't be any of the "c's" and he'd need the alignment bushings for the ball joints. This whole caster/camber thing drives me nuts!!

Which way are the tires facing?

From top facing down: \ / or / \

or from front of truck: \ / or / \

or are the tires straight until you turn the wheels meaning the tabs on the front of the knuckles are angle downward towards the ground and not parrallel to it?

i'm not talking about the c-bushings/wedges... i am referring to the actual knuckle. the inner C is what holds your outer C and knuckle on. the ball-joints hold the inner/outer C's together.

Duh, now that I re-read what you were saying, I got it, was thinking about the c's for the solid D44's holding the radius arms. Good point! I have seen places around the web that took the TTB arms and reshaped them at the inner c's to get a better alignment. I believe they are really for long travel suspensions like on BAJA trucks an that sort. Might be an option for him.
