My 93 runs fine and I hope it stays that way, but for my info what is a SPOUT and where is it.(93 4.9) thanks.

The SPOut (SPark Out) is how the PCM can advance the timing while it's running. It should be a small gray thing plugged in by the distributor ICM for you, thanks rla.

1992 and up model years gas engine trucks the SPOUT plug is near the Ignition Control Module (ICM) located on the driver side inner fender.

Some of the 1991 and older trucks with a 7.5L engine had the same remote mount ICM and SPOUT plug. They are out there, but perhaps not so common it seems.
