Good question. I'm sure there was at one time. Mine has the padding that was between the metal and the headliner(i think). When you touch it, it flakes off. I haven't bothered with it b/c the padding is tan and that's the same color as my interior.
I noticed on the top of the vehicle, outside, above the driver and passenger there are 3? rubber circle stoppers/grommets. Does this hold on the headliner pad that I have on and if so is this the way the vehicle was made? I've never seen this on another vehicle. Normally the headliner is just stuck to the top with glue or something. I thought it was strange.
most broncos did come with head liners mine is an 85 and i just replaced it parts can be orderd at your local interior shop or pep boys you need the original board under your head liner though (look in junk yards) order the fabric in the color you need and buy a can of upolstery glue also can be had at pep boys instructions on can and box of new material
