I purchased my 96 F-150 Eddie Bauer at a repo auction a couple of years ago, and was wondering if it had keyless entry? Being an Eddie Bauer I would think that it would have it, but I'm not sure. Where is the keyless entry module located? That probably would be the easiest way to determine if it had it. Thanks
I believe the keyless entry module is located behind the dash, more towards the driver side, to the right of your right leg (if you're sitting in the seat). Its a rectangular box and it's mounted kind of behind the storage compartment on the lower/left dash (down and to the right of the steering column), and a bit further down towards the floor. A bit hard to explain without a picture. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here.
Not that hard im assuming probably could take it to the dealer or mechanic who knows what he or she is doing i didnt even know they came with keyless entry in 96 hmm
Yes keyless entry was an option on my 95 too (unfortunately the original owner didn't spring for it). But if memory serves, my brother was able to program his own fob for his factory keyless. I seem to remember pressing a certain button combination inside the cab (maybe something to do with the lock/unlock button) and then pressing a button combination on the fob. I should you could google it and find something. Good luck!
I don't know for sure. I've only been around one close enough to notice. I drove the truck and shut it off and noticed the THEFT light blinking (I've seen this on newer Fords too). I didn't do anything with the locks and I don't think it was armed.
My brochures state the remote keyless entry/anti-theft system as one option.

With it being an Eddie Bauer, I thought that maybe it should have it. I will have to investigate in a bit. Thank you all for the info though
I read in my manual on how to arm it. Either remove the key, press LOCK on the door and close all doors. The indicator should light for 30 seconds. Or remove key, close all doors, and press LOCK on the transmitter. The indicator will light for 30 seconds.
It is just an option, available only on XLT and Eddie Bauer models.

Easiest way to tell is if the THEFT light works. The factory anti-theft and keyless entry came together as one option.
Really? I've had my truck for nearly eight years, and never seen a "theft" light, but I'm quite happy with the keyless entry. I probably haven't put the key in the door 10 times since I've had the truck.
Well I just took a quick peek and I noticed two boxes in the described location. There was a semi-transparent blue box, and directly behind that there is a smaller black box. I checked my Chiltons, but there is no mention of keyless in there, ideas?
I believe the keyless is the box more towards the engine compartment, but I could be wrong on that. If you look closely I seem to remember that it was labeled with something like "Keyless entry" or "Anti-theft"... Something to that effect, I might be wrong on that part though.
If it does have the anti-theft/keyless entry it will be in "Valet" mode meaning it wont self-lock. Do you have the theft light? If you have it then you have the system. If you do get a fob you will need to puch that light (also a button) and it will turn the alarm ON. BE CAREFUL! If you push that button and dont have the fob, the alarm will self-arm and you will not be able to start your truck (alarm will NOT sound but ignition is cut)
Another easy way to see, pop the hood and look near the brake booster, you should see a horn like piece, thats the alarm
