When I pulled the spare tire cover off I found that it was pretty much just rigged on with elastic in different places on the backside of the cover. Anyone have a good way to secure this thing. I have heard they run 200.00 and hate to have it come off too easy. The elastic that ran around the inside of the cover is pretty much gone.
I swear I have seen locking cables for spare tire covers somewhere...I just can't remember where. You may look at a few local parts stores or something.
I need this one...but keep an eye out, it took me about 6 months to land this one. There's usually about 1 EB tire cover every month or so--some go for more than others..

If the cover is still in good shape, go to a seamstress store and buy some more elastic cord. Then either get some wire or if you have an electrician buddy. Get him to run the new cord through there for you. Otherwise you will need to find some wire similar to a coat hanger to push the new cord through. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the info. I will try running a new elastic through there. I actually pulled it back off. We had a local cruise night here and I wanted it to look good so I put it on for the cruise. I actually get a lot of questions about the truck. I guess not many folks know they made a Silver Anniversary edition.
Anyone ever mount a match to the factory wheels as their spare, and not use a tire cover? I haven't seen it done yet, but can imagine it would look pretty good.
I have seen it done before, and even more so now that SUV's (suburban/tahoe) are getting real popular. The only problem is trying to lock it down so someone doesn't decide they need it more than you.

My Bronco came from the factory with a lockable lug nut on the spare.

I picked up a factory stock wheel at a wrecker yard for $85.00. I think it looks pretty good. I lock it with the locking lug that came from the factory. I agree, it somebody really wants it, they are gonna find a way to get it. A couple internet sites wanted around $200. for a wheel and Ford wanted $4oo. plus. I think I got a fair price.

My 89 came with the matching wheel/tire for the spare and a locking lug nut to keep it on the carrier. I thought all Broncos came that way with the outside spare tire carrier.
